ABOUT THE CONCERT
Each year from January until June, about 60 young people meet at the Rudolfinum to create a beautiful joint concert under the guidance of players from the Czech Philharmonic (and with support from their teachers). This time, the project participants are from the regions of Hradec Králové, Moravian Silesia, Pilsen, Zlín, and Prague. And who will conduct the concluding concert? A man described by a participant at one of the previous annual events as follows: "I've never met anyone who showed such enthusiasm for music."
How did participants in 2024 feel about the experience?
"A year ago I was sitting alone in the audience and admiring the music my peers were able to make along with players from the philharmonic. When I found out a few months later that I, too, would get the chance, I felt not only very lucky, but also a bit worried. What if I can't pull it off? What if it's just too hard? The Rudolfinum, the Czech Philharmonic... But at our first gathering with Maestro Altrichter, I began to believe that my worries that things would end badly were unnecessary. I kept mentally repeating over and over his calming words that music can only be made with friends. I will draw upon everthing I took away from this for years and years."
"When the maestro stepped in front of the orchestra for the first time, it took my breath away. It was a hurricane of incredible energy radiating in every direction. I hope I'm not the only one who noticed, but Maestro Altrichter has angel's wings instead of hands. What gestures! Under his leadership, the orchestra absolutely blossomed. This is the best event that children from Elementary Schools of the Arts can experience. Among other things, even I, as an introvert, made lots of new friends during the project."
