ABOUT THE PLAY
The story that shocked the world. In the 1970s, a drug epidemic swept through West Berlin and engulfed teenagers and children. Christiane F. was one of them. She described her life of drugs, prostitution and loneliness openly and without embellishment. Experience an uncompromising stage adaptation of the cult book about the existential problems of young people—issues that still resonate today.
“For a moment I imagined how wonderful it would be if my mother were still waiting for me. I bought some dope, shot up and went to sleep at the station. I needed money in case I could not find a customer for the night and had to go to a guesthouse.” From boredom to a disco, from a party into a hard crowd, and from there on a one-way ticket to the station, where life depends on whether you have money or not. The cult story of Christiane F. and her West Berlin friends caught in a drug epidemic is a slap in society’s face—one worth delivering from time to time. The young creative team presents the familiar story from the heroine’s point of view, meeting her both at the beginning of her addiction and at its imagined end. The audience experiences with her infatuation, disappointment, hope, resignation, disgust and hatred: a storm of raw emotions that cling to you and follow you home.
The adaptation was created by young theatre artists and the OZ Artefakt cultural platform, who bring humour and youthful energy even to this harrowing story.
The performance is not suitable for audiences under 15.
