About Snow film fest
The SNOW FILM FEST festival has been taking place in the Czech Republic since 2011. At that time, we called it the Winter Sports Film Festival. Over the years, the festival has grown considerably, with a regular attendance of 25,000 paying spectators.
Every year from October to December, SNOW FILM FEST brings the best films about winter sports from around the world and from domestic production to more than 150 Czech and Slovak cities.
You can regularly look forward to a full-length series of top films about extreme skiing, winter climbing, snowboarding, snow-kiting and other winter fun.
Zdeněk "Háček" Hák:
UIAGM mountain guide, mountaineer and winner of the Golden Ice Ax award, ski alpinist and skier
Zdeněk Hák or Háček is a boy from Most who is one of the most important figures in Czech mountaineering and ski mountaineering. He is a mountain guide of the UIAGM, the holder of the most prestigious mountaineering award Piolet d'Or (the so-called Golden Axe), a five-time winner of the Czech Cup in ski mountaineering and has completed several expeditions (and not only) to the Himalayas - for first ascents or descents both with Marko Holeček and, for example, with Jaroslav Bánský or Jan Trávníček. He is also an enthusiastic sandpiper, he has a few first ascents in Adršpach! In 2017, he took third place in the Climber of the Year poll and won several Climb of the Year awards for his expeditions.
As far as skiing is concerned, he started as a downhill skier, but as he says, "it was more out of compulsion". He is said to be the only one who beat Ondra Bank, unfortunately only until his junior years. However, not everyone is ready for alpine skiing, so Háček switched to ski mountaineering after a few years, in which he even made it to the Czech national team. But he became famous mainly thanks to his descents of high mountains. For example, he is the only Czech who skied down the highest peak of the Hindukúš Nošak mountain range (7,492 m).
