Czech Philharmonic
Subscription Series I 2026/2027
The Czech Chamber Music Society’s 132nd season features several leitmotifs that are highlighted in Series I, the most prominent being the 200th anniversary of the death of Ludwig van Beethoven and inspiration from South America. Both of these themes are developed from the beginning of the society’s season in the first concerts of Series I.
Description
We start right off with Beethoven and his first four violin sonatas played by the season’s curator, Jan Fišer. The wonderful baritone Javier Arrey brings the atmosphere of Latin America. The series also features concerts with legendary ensembles. The Smetana Trio will represent the Czech scene, and coming from abroad is the Juilliard Quartet. Members of the Czech Philharmonic will bring the series to a conclusion. The Czech Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra and Kirill Gerstein bring us back to Beethoven with the first half of a complete presentation of his piano concertos, then the Rudolfinum Consort will end the season with older, often neglected music by Czech composers.
